| In the spotlight Julian Rijna Julian Rijna is the first member in the history of the Curaçao Billiard Federation to participate in a junior world 9-ball championship. This event will take place at Adelaide, Australia. Their he will represent the Curaçao and the Pan-American Billiard Federation in the World 9-ball championships for juniors. Their will be 32 juniors from 24 countries in this championship. The event will commence on Tuesday 2nd November with the final played Friday 5th. Matches will commence at 10.00 am. On Monday evening there will be a Player’ meeting together with a welcome reception for all concerned. The format will be double elimination to 16, then single elimination. Last 16 will commence on Thursday. All matches are race to 9 on 8 Olio tables, six for tournament play and two for practice. Practice times will be allocated by officials. Simonis 860 cloth and Aramith Pro balls will be the equipment used. Accommodation will be provided for all players. Febiko.com interviewed Julian before his departure to down under..... Tell us who is Julian Rijna? My name is Julian Rijna, 'but everybody call me Jule you can call me Jule. My address is Dr. Lensweg 9, Curaçao Netherlands Antilles. I'm 18 years old and I'm visiting Feffik school studying plantic mechanic. How did you start with practising pool? I started playing pool when I was 14 years old. It was my cousin Henny Nunes Cruz which show me how to play pool in Maishi Snack and since then I fell in love with this sport and later on I learned the skills playing with the players of Maishi Tigers like Alan Frans. How long do you practise pool ? I practise on daily base at Maishi Snack between 18:00 and 21:00. Which one do you like more 8-ball or 9-ball? It doesn't matter I like playing both. Tell us which year is yet your best year? I have to say definitely this year has been so far my best year: I won the junior 8-ball championship. 3rd place at the seniors 8-ball championships. I finished 6th place at the seniors 9-ball championships. In the Netherlands Antilles 9-ball championships I finished 8th. I did also participate in the Pan American 9-ball championship for senior and finished 33 with a field of 48 players. I also won the national 8-ball team championship with the Maishi Tigers. Who are your favorite players? Bryan Farah from Curaçao and Richard Wolff from Aruba. What do you think about going to the world championships? It's a great honor for me to participate in such a great championship, I will do my best to play the best pool to finished at the top but I 'm aware it's going to be a difficult achievement, I will do my best. How do you prepare yourself ? The past weeks I did practise with Michael Arvelo, David Prins, Bryan Farah and Bryan Landskind all of them has have already experience with international championships.
