Alan Rolon and Adriana Villar  the New Pan American 9-ball champions.
Granbeeuw Entertainment Center
7-June-2004.

After four great championship days the Pan American
Billiard Federation and the Curacao Billiard Federation
can be proud with the new Pan American Champions:
Mr. Alan Rolon from Puerto Rico and
Mrs. Adriana Villar from Costa Rica.
The Venue for the Pan American Championship was
Granbeeuw Entertainment Center, Curacao.
Hosting a field of 48 male players and 18 female players
with all the "creme de le creme"  from South America,
Central America and the Caribbean.
Every year the Pan American championship is getting
tougher with this year players like Ismael "El morro" Paez and Ernesto Dominguez.
The format was double-elimination. First it was Marco Valencia (Panama) which reach the men's
final undefeated. Alan Rolon, who was sent to the loser round by the same Marco Valencia in the
semis, was growing during this tournament and after winning from an other great player from
Panama Lino Castillo he went back to get his revenge against Marco Valencia.
In the final Alan Rolon was playing his best match, it seemed what decided the final was the
break.  If there was a ball sunk on the break Alan cleared the table.
Alan Rolon has cleared the table five times in a row which gave him an advantage that Marco
could not gain back and won the final 11-1.
They each were observed to be very well-behaved players a testimony to any player's
professionalism.
The woman's final seemed to be also just like the men's final with Mirjana Crujicic taking a lead
5-1 against Adriana Villar, 3 time finalist in the previous Pan American Championship 9-ball.
But Adriana Villar made a great comeback and won this emotionally loaded final after a hill to hill
match with a final decision of 9-7.
Adriana won her way to the final after winning of the new kid on the block Ghyslaine Kock (Aruba)
who won the former Pan American 9-ball Champion Laura Famin (Argentina) in the semis of the
winners round. Mirjana Crujicic was waiting in the loser round and got her ticket in the final
winning from Ghyslaine Kock in the loser round final.
